Marcus King shared a new single, “Blues Worse Than I Ever Had.” The song is set to land on the guitarist and singer-songwriter’s upcoming Dan Auerbach-produced album, Young Blood, due out on August 26 via American Records/Republic.

King announced Young Blood in April and shared the single “Hard Working Man.” The guitarist followed with “Rescue Me,” “Lie Lie Lie” and “Blood On The Tracks” over the past few months. Marcus spoke candidly about the personally tough period in which he created Young Blood.

“I was going through a lot during the album with addictions, breakups, and addictions because of breakups. I was overindulging in everything,” King said. “It’s not a big secret to my friends. I was in a real rough place for a while.”

“At the time, I’d changed medications when I was trying to process the death of family members,” King said of the new single, “Blues Worse Than I Ever Had,” which he co-wrote with Auerbach. “I was coasting through life like a zombie. When I’d get off them, I’d feel things that happened six months ago for the first time and crash down.”

As with previous singles, “Blues Worse Than I Ever Had” arrived with a live performance video featuring drummer Chris St. Hilaire and bassist Nick Movshon. Find it below along with the studio version:
