Red Hot Chili Peppers dug deep into their repertoire during their Saturday night concert at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The latest stop of the band’s 2022-23 Global Stadium Tour featured the first “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” of the trek.
Nearly a decade after their last Sin City performance on New Year’s Eve 2012, the Chili Peppers took the stage at the home of the Las Vegas Raiders following support sets from King Princess and The Strokes. The quartet began their concert with a jam that bled into “Can’t Stop,” one of four songs from 2002’s By The Way to make the setlist in Las Vegas.
Frontman Anthony Kiedis belted out 2006 hit “Dani California” next and then fronted the band on By The Way standout “Universally Speaking.” The ensuing “Here Ever After” was the night’s initial offering off RHCP’s recently released Unlimited Love LP. A double dose of 2006’s Stadium Arcadium followed with “Charlie” and “Snow ((Hey Oh))” before the group returned to Unlimited Love for “These Are The Ways” and By The Way for “Don’t Forget Me.”
A tease of The Clash’s “London Calling” introduced “Right On Time,” the first tune off 1999’s Californication played in Las Vegas. Kiedis, bassist Flea, guitarist John Frusciante and drummer Chad Smith then fit “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” and “Otherside” between Unlimited Love cuts “She’s A Lover” and “Black Summer.” Last night marked the group’s first performance of the title track from their breakthrough 1991 studio album Blood Sugar Sex Magik since March 23, 2018.
Red Hot Chili Peppers served up beloved hits “Californication” and “Give It Away” to end Saturday’s main set at Allegiant Stadium. For the encore, the four-piece paired “I Could Have Lied” and “By The Way.”
