Watch Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey Performing Live In 2019: Pro-Shot Video

The Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey OG Trio lineup featuring bassist Reed Mathis, keyboardist Brian Haas and drummer Jason Smart will take the stage for a rare performance at “As Summer Into Autumn Slips,” a two-day event coming to Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, Massachusetts on Friday, October 7 and Saturday, October 8. Get ready for the three-piece’s first set on the East Coast since 2007 by viewing newly shared full-show pro-shot video of the JFJO OG Trio’s set from a private party held at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, California on June 2, 2019 celebrating JamBase’s 20th anniversary.

As Summer Into Autumn Slips begins on Friday, October 7 with performances from the classic Marco Benevento Trio, Boston-based improvisational outfit Club d’Elf and Los Angeles-based guitarist William Tyler. The classic Marco Benevento Trio finds the keyboardist joined by Reed Mathis on bass and Andrew Barr of The Slip and The Barr Brothers on drums. Marco, Reed and Andrew played together often between 2007 and 2010, but performances from the lineup have been ultra rare ever since.

The two-day event presented by JamBase at Soundcheck Studios continues on Saturday, October 8 with sets from Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, WOLF! featuring Scott Metzger and William Tyler. The Slip bassist Marc Friedman will sit-in with the JFJO OG Trio. The last performance from Reed, Brian and Jason on the East Coast came 15 years ago when Jacob Fred said farewell to Smart after a six-year run with the group at a goodbye show held in Burlington, Vermont.

Haas, Mathis and Smart joined forces to help JamBase celebrate its 20th anniversary at Sweetwater in 2019. The JFJO OG Trio delivered an hour-long set filled with adventurous improvisation that emerged out of the band’s genre-defying originals. Reed showed off his wild and distorted tone that the instrumental outfit often used to provide the main melody along with Haas’ dynamic work on the keys. Brian also played melodica at points in the set while Smart laid down bombastic beats.
