Ripe Details Sophomore Studio Album, ‘Bright Blues,’ & Spring Tour 2023

23

Boston-based alt-pop act Ripe will release their second full-length studio album, Bright Blues, via Glassnote Records on March 10, 2023. The quartet will support the LP with a month-long tour next spring.

Bright Blues consists of 12 tracks, including previously issued singles “Settling” and “Noise In The Forest.” The follow-up to 2018’s Joy In The Wild Unknown saw the band — vocalist Robbie Wulfsohn, drummer Sampson Hellerman, trombonist Calvin Barthel and guitarist Jon Becker — work with producer/songwriters Noah Conrad (BTS, Niall Horan) and Ryan Linvill (Olivia Rodrigo, Dermot Kennedy). Both Conrad and Linvill attended Berklee College of Music with Ripe.

Ripe went into the sessions with the idea of evolving their sound. “We thought, how can we do something new?” Sampson Hellerman explained. “Something that still has our sound and vibe at its core, how can we expand our boundaries and reach more audiences while still staying true to what makes Ripe Ripe?”

“The wildest thing for me is that the record simultaneously sounds like it has the scars of everything we’ve been through and also that it doesn’t,” added Robbie Wulfsohn in reference to a tumultuous period Ripe went through including multiple lineup changes and the COVID pandemic. “It’s joyful music, which is very exciting given that it was made in the middle of getting hit in the stomach.”

Dallas’ Deep Ellum Art Co. will host Ripe’s 2023 Spring Tour opener on March 28. The band then heads to Austin on March 29 and Nashville on March 31. Ripe makes their way from coast-to-coast over the course of April. Stops include Atlanta, Detroit, Boston, New York City, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles and other U.S. cities. Tickets for the run will be available starting tomorrow (Friday, November 18) at 10 a.m. local time. Links are laid out here:
