‘Austin City Limits’ Reveals Remaining Season 48 Schedule: Nathaniel Rateliff, Pavement, The War On Drugs, More

Austin City Limits will conclude its 48th season with performances from Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night SweatsPavementThe War On Drugs, and more next year. The final eight episodes of the longest-running music television show in history will also feature salutes to recent ACL Hall of Fame inductees Sheryl Crow and Joe Ely.

Bookending season 48 of Austin City Limits are two, hour-long specials recorded at the program’s 8th Annual Hall of Fame Honors. Kicking off the backstretch of the season on January 7th, 2023 is a tribute to nine-time Grammy winner Sheryl Crow, with performances from Brandi CarlileJason IsbellBrittney Spencer, and Lucius‘ Jess Wolf. The program will also showcase induction speeches and vintage clips from throughout Crow’s ACL history.

On January 14th, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats return for their second appearance on the program, sharing their hour with Adia Victoria‘s debut. The following week on January 21st, Black Pumas co-founder Adrian Quesada will stage a special presentation of his 2022 Spanish-language album Boleros Psicodélicos. The tribute to Latin love songs, or “baladas”, of the ’60s and ’70s will see the multi-instrumentalist/producer perform with a nine-piece band featuring international vocalists from contemporary Latin music iLeNatalia Clavier, Girl Ultra, and Clemente Castillo.

For January 28th, The War On Drugs will return to Austin to deliver highlights from the band’s Grammy-nominated album I Don’t Live Here Anymore. After that, on February 4th, alt-rock heroes Pavement will make its debut on Austin City Limits in celebration of the band’s 30th anniversary. The next week, rising country star Maren Morris will deliver her first ACL performance ahead of Austin natives Spoon the next week (2/18).

Finally, season 48 of Austin City Limits closes out on February 25th with a special episode recognizing native Texan and ACL Hall of Famer Joe Ely. The hour-long feature will include performances from his collaborators in Texas supergroup The Flatlanders, Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Butch Hancock, in addition to Rodney Crowell and Marcia Ball. Renowned Lone Star author Lawrence Wright delivers a memorable induction in the taping that also includes highlights from Ely’s 11 appearances on the program.
