Phil Lesh will resume a tradition of celebrating his birthday with a run of Phil Lesh & Friends concerts at The Capitol Theatre this March. A four-night stand at the Port Chester, New York venue commemorating the Grateful Dead bassist’s 83rd birthday consists of shows on March 15, 17, 18 and 19.

Lesh turns 83 on March 15 and the run will conclude on March 19 with Phil’s 100th show at The Cap since the venue re-opened in 2012. The historic theater last hosted a run honoring the bassist’s birthday in 2019. Three concerts planned to honor his 80th birthday in March 2020 were postponed due to the pandemic.

The ensemble for the celebratory run will feature Phil on bass joined by guitarists Rick Mitarotonda (Goose) and Grahame Lesh, keyboardist John Medeski, drummer John Molo, vocalist Nicki Bluhm, violinist Katie Jacoby and the Trey Anastasio Band horn section of Jennifer Hartswick, James Casey and Natalie Cressman. Hartswick and Cressman are only aboard for March 15, while Bluhm and Jacoby will just play the last three shows spanning March 17 – 19.

General on-sales start next Friday, January 27 at 10 a.m. ET.
