Iggy Pop Works ‘Kimmel’ Crowd Into A “Frenzy” [Watch]

Iggy Pop paid a riotous visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday to whip the audience into a “Frenzy”. The track comes from The Godfather of Punk’s new album, Every Loser, out now.

Joining the 75-year-old elder statesman was a crack team, known as The Losers, including drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and bassist Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses) along with Eddie Vedder Earthling guitarists Josh Klinghoffer and Andrew Watt, the latter of whom produced Every Loser. The group of able-bodied youngsters pushed Pop’s performance over the top as they threw fuel on the fire of Iggy’s hysteria.

The version of “Frenzy” seen on Kimmel varied greatly from what’s heard on the album. For this somewhat sanitized performance, Pop scrubbed away most of the four-letter words heard on the opening track to his 19th album. In the end, however, it’s not dirty words that give Pop his punk powers. Like a Detroit dive bar version of the Biblical Samson, Pop’s powers are imbued to him by something most unholy, and he’s honor bound to continue using his divine gift of destruction.
