Temples Return With Sean Ono Lennon-Produced Album ‘Exotico’

21

Temples tapped Sean Ono Lennon to produce their new album, Exotico, which will be issued by ATO Records on April 14. The British psychedelic rock quartet previewed the LP with the lead single “Gamma Rays.”

Featuring 16 tracks mixed by Dave Fridmann and marking their fourth album overall, Exotico is the first Temples full-length release since 2019’s Hot Motion. Temples – guitarist James Bagshaw, bassist Tom Walmsley, keyboardist/guitarist Adam Smith and drummer Rens Ottink – recorded Exotico with Ono Lennon in England at studios in London, Brighton and Worcestershire.

Regarding “Gamma Rays,” Bagshaw stated:

“In the verse lyrics, we’re talking about the grandness of nature. And then the chorus flips that on its head, it sounds like a rejoiceful summer tune about soaking up the rays, but the truth is that soaking up gamma rays will kill you. So, it’s about that juxtaposition of beauty and danger that we often find in nature.”

Temples will embark on an intimate tour of the United Kingdom during the first week of February. An international tour in support of Exotico is expected to be announced soon.
