Don’t let the playful hues fool you—Carl F. Bucherer is taking its new rainbow tourbillon very seriously.

The 135-year-old Swiss watchmaker’s new Manero Tourbillon Double Peripheral Paradise is the flagship piece in the larger Manero lineup of peripherally-mounted automatic watches, all of which are getting a vibrant refresh featuring brushed dials in blue, salmon, brown, green, silver and white.

But the especially bright limited-edition bauble seen here is a coup in colorful watchmaking. Framing the 18K rose gold case is a bezel comprised of 40 baguette-cut tsavorites, sapphires, rubies and other entirely naturally colored gemstones.

Through a painstaking process, each of the bezel’s gemstones were selected for appropriate placement within the rainbow’s spectrum. But the really tricky part was ensuring the gemstone index marks on the black sunray dial also match exactly with the corresponding stone on the bezel.

The visible design is completed rose gold hands, a hybrid black rubber strap and the floating tourbillon cage at 12 o’clock, which is supported peripherally by three ceramic ball bearings. Beneath is a 33-jewel CFB T30000 automatic movement with a 65-hour power reserve.

Limited to just 18 pieces, the Manero Tourbillon Double Peripheral Paradise is available at Carl F. Bucherer retailers now for an eye-watering $152,000 suggested retail price.
