Rickie Lee Jones released a cover of “Nature Boy.” The song is set to appear on Rickie Lee’s upcoming jazz standards album, Pieces Of Treasure, due out on April 28 via BMG Modern Recordings.

Rickie Lee Jones reunited with longtime producer and friend Russ Titelman on Pieces Of Treasure. So far Jones has shared her takes on standards like “Just In Time” and “September Song.”

Rickie Lee now shares “Nautre Boy,” which was written by Eden Ahbez and first recorded by Nat King Cole in 1948. Jones is joined on the song by guitarist Russell Malone, pianist Rob Mounsey, Mark McLean on drums, bassist David Wong and Ara Dinkjian on oud.

“I learned ‘Nature Boy’ from my dad when I was young, maybe ten, twelve years old,” Rickie Lee recalled. “It is a very odd song, only one verse, almost like an introduction without a body. But that is the point of it, there is just one message, as if Krishnanmurti himself wrote it and that was that—’Love, and be loved in return.’ I really did feel my father near as I recorded this.”
