The Infamous Stringdusters Travel ‘Down The Road’ With Latest ‘Tribute To Flatt & Scruggs’ Single

28

The Infamous Stringdusters released a new single, “Down The Road.” The song is set for the Grammy-winning bluegrass group’s upcoming A Tribute To Flatt & Scruggs, due out on April 21.

The Dusters announced their homage to bluegrass legends Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs in February. The tribute record follows a similar effort in honor of the Father Of Bluegrass Bill Monroe, which netted the quintet a Grammy nomination.

“The concept of paying tribute to the Grandfathers or originators of Bluegrass is one we bounced around for awhile and after Bill Monroe, the most logical, I think any bluegrass musician would agree, is Flatt & Scruggs,” bassist Travis Book said. “They’re legendary and without Earl’s banjo, bluegrass just doesn’t exist the way we know it today.”

“’Down the Road’ is a staple of the Flatt and Scruggs canon and one they recorded early in their career,” dobroist Andy Hall said of the new Tribute To Flatt & Scruggs single. “As is the case with many Flatt and Scruggs songs, it’s very banjo driven. It’s a fun one to play! We do it our own way and even put a little jam at the end.”
