Goose held court at The Capitol Theatre over the past five nights, as they made their debut at the famed venue in Port Chester, New York with a lengthy residency. Friday’s show saw the quintet welcome Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon to lead them through their “Mustang Sally” encore.
“Everybody give it up for Jimmy Fallon,” Goose multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach said as Fallon took the stage with the band on Friday. “He had us on his show, now he’s here on our show,” Anspach added in reference to Goose’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon appearance this past December.
Jimmy Fallon was wearing sunglasses and helmed a particularly blues-laden version of Wilson Pickett’s 1966 hit. “Mustang Sally” was written and originally released a year prior by Mack Rice. Goose debuted their cover at the inaugural Goosemas concert on December 20, 2014. The five-piece has performed “Mustang Sally” occasionally ever since with Friday’s version their first since a January 26, 2022 concert in Tempe, Arizona.
Jimmy Fallon gave an enthusiastic performance as he encouraged the audience to singalong and urged, “C’mon guys take it … go go” to lead into Anspach’s guitar solo. Fallon laid down in the center of the stage before singing the final “put your flat feet on the ground” lyric.
