Fleet Foxes Announce ‘The Spring Recital’ Concert Livestream

49

In March, Fleet Foxes held a “Spring Recital” concert at Los Angeles’ Belasco Theatre. The performance was recorded and will premiere via an exclusive Veeps livestream event on Thursday, June 8.

As previously noted, Fleet Foxes’ “Spring Recital” saw the band perform a 20-song main set and an additional four-song encore. The show opened with “Sun Giant,” marking the performance of the title track from the 2008 EP since 2009. Frontman robin-pecknold then led his band, who were accompanied by The Westerlies, through a setlist stacked with material from the album, Shore, presenting eight songs from the 2020 release including the live debut of “Cradling Mother, Cradling Woman” and the first full band version of “Maestranza.”

Fleet Foxes’ “Spring Recital” also saw Robin Pecknold’s father, Greg Pecknold, play a self-built fretless bass on a cover of Joni Mitchell’s “Hejira.” Singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Joanna Newsom, who performed a surprise opening set that evening, returned to accompany Fleet Foxes on the Helplessness Blues track “Blue Spotted Tail” and her “Good Intentions Paving Company” (Newsom’s set is not part of the upcoming Veeps livestream).

Fleet Foxes’ “Spring Recital” premieres on Veeps on Thursday, June 8 at 9 p.m. ET. Fleet Foxes begin their 2023 Summer Tour on June 13 in Cleveland.
