The Disco Biscuits last weekend hosted their three-day Tranceatlantic destination event in Reykjavik, Iceland with Cloudchord, Karina Rykman, and Dogs in a Pile.
The Biscuits delivered six sets over three nights—though the nights felt more like days, with daylight lasting up to 18 hours—plus a VIP set and a special “Taste in Music” SPAGA set featuring Aron Magner, Jason Fraticelli, and Matt Scarano. The shows included opening sets by Cloudchord, Karina Rykman, and Dogs in a Pile, and each opener played a separate show of their own.
The event took place at the world-famous Harpa Concert Hall and drew fans from all around the world. During the day, fans and the band were able to explore the scenic countryside, and at night, they gathered at the exquisite venue for nonstop dance parties that will go down in the band’s history as some of its finest shows.
Night one started strong with “Magellan” and was highighted by a first set-closing “Floes”, the first-ever inverted “Another Plan of Attack”, and an outstanding “House Dog Party Favor” > “Orch Theme” sandwich. The Disco Biscuits made sure the trip worth it on night two with the live debut of original song “Falling” and a 25-minute “Save The Robots” jam. Then, on their last night in Reykjavik, the Biscuits played fan favorite “Helicopters” and a monster improvisational jam to start the second set, as well as newer tunes “One Chance to Save the World” and “Why We Dance”.
Other Tranceatlantic highlights included a sold-out Karina Rykman late-night at Idno, where she debuted a cover of “Army of Me” by iconic Icelander Björk, with Isaac Slone taking the bass from her so she “could front-woman that s—,” as she put it. Rykman has developed a longstanding relationship with tDB, having opened for them in Cleveland, Buffalo, and twice in Burlington just this year.
The Disco Biscuits will head to Summer Camp Music Festival this weekend for the festival’s final full edition before hitting the road for a run of East Coast tour dates in June. They will then embark on a West Coast tour with stops in several cities the band has not visited in more than ten years and others the group will perform in for the first time.
