Neil Young Teases Tour Date Announcement

Last month Neil Young published a note on his website declaring his desire to play more live shows after over four years since he last hit the road. “Maybe July,” Young added. In the surest sign yet the legendary rocker will finally embark on a tour, Neil Young shared an Instagram post captioned “tour dates coming to you soon…”

The video in the post shows a massive machine blowing smoke. A man, presumably Neil Young, appears amid the smoke towards the end of the clip. No additional details were revealed besides “tour dates coming to you soon…”

Neil Young’s last tour saw him joined by Lukas Nelson + POTR in Europe during the summer of 2019. Neil Young and Promise of The Real also played four U.S. shows in May 2019 and one on September 19, 2019 ahead of their set at Farm Aid 2019. Young started 2019 with a solo tour and then assembled Neil Young & Crazy Horse for two concerts.

This past April Neil Young made his return to performing in concert with appearances at the Light Up The Blues benefit and Willie Nelson’s 90th birthday celebration.

As recently as July 2022 Young stated he was “not ready” to perform and pulled out of Farm Aid. “I don’t think it is safe in the pandemic,” Neil explained at the time.

It will be interesting to see how Neil Young deals with ticketing for the upcoming tour dates. Young declared “Concert Touring Is Broken” in a March 19, 2023 post taking aim at Ticketmaster. Stay tuned to find out the format as well. Crazy Horse guitarist Nils Lofgren is busy touring with Bruce Springsteen as a member of the E Street Band.
