The Revivalists on Thursday returned to Red Rocks Amphitheatre for the group’s annual pilgrimage to the hallowed Morrison, CO venue. Joining the New Orleans neo-soul outfit for this doubleheader were Seattle folk-rockers Band of Horses.
For their first trip back to Red Rocks since June 2022, The Revivalists braved the elements for a show beset by persistent and consistent rain showers. The band played on, however, delivering what proved a 15-song performance that included a three-song encore featuring openers The Heavy Heavy. The Revivalists rode the hits that got them there, loading up the show with favorites like “Soulfight”, “It Was A Sin”, fast-rising new tracks “Kid” and “Good Old Days“, and of course, the band’s landmark 2015 smash single “Wish I Knew You”.
“There’s something beautiful about the rain and not just in the way the light hits the rocks and creates a glow,” the band wrote on social media following the show. “It’s in the way It brings us all closer together, closer to the source. Rain is the catalyst for all growth…it has its way with us…and mingled with the music it brings a sense of renewal and release. Last night was all that and so much more. Singing these songs with you as they echoed off the rocks was deeply healing and you earned every single bit of it Denver. Every note. Thank you to our friends, Band of Horses and The Heavy Heavy for an incredible night. We won’t soon forget this feeling.”
