Following a successful debut last year, Duane Betts will bring his Horseshoe Music Festival back to The Virginian Lodge in Jackson, WY for a Labor Day Weekend celebration on August 30th, 31st, and September 1st, 2024. The lineup for the boutique, multi-disciplinary festival features top performers Betts, Eric Krasno, George Porter Jr., Steve Kimock, Don Was, and more.
Horseshoe Music Festival will feature performances by Alex Orbison (Allman Betts Band), Cody Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars), Ivan Neville (Dumpstaphunk), Jackie Greene (The Black Crowes), Jaime Wyatt, Jason Crosby (Phil Lesh & Friends), Johnny Kimock (Oteil & Friends), Johnny Stachela (Allman Betts Band), Lamar Williams Jr. (Trouble No More, The New Mastersounds), Nicki Bluhm (Phil Lesh & Friends), and Pedro Arevalo (Duane Betts & Palmetto Motel, Dickey Betts Band). Under the guidance of musical directors Betts and Krasno, this all-star cast of musicians will engage in nightly jam sessions as The Horseshoe Family Band.
Each night of Horseshoe Festival will adhere to a theme, starting with a “Skulls & Peaches” evening of music inspired by the Grateful Dead and Allman Brothers Band on Friday, August 30th. Next, on Saturday, “Americana Night” will pay tribute to Duane’s father and founding ABB guitarist Dickey Betts, who passed away in April at age 80. Saturday’s “Americana” programming will celebrate Dickey’s lifetime of songs as well as other music rooted in the American traditions of blues, country, and folk. Finally, the festival will close on Sunday with “Soul of the South,” highlighting Southern influences of blues, gospel, country, and rock n’ roll. There will also be separately ticketed after-parties from 10 p.m. to midnight.
“I’m thrilled to be back in Jackson, a town that holds a very special place in my heart, for the second annual Horseshoe Music Festival,” Betts said. “I’m excited to have so many friends getting together to play the music we all love. I feel it’s only fitting to do a tribute to Dad as part of the Americana set this year. Honoring him and the music he pioneered will be healing for both myself and to the fans who love him.”
There’s more to Horseshoe Music Festival than just music. Duane and his wife Lisa Hadley Betts created the festival upon four pillars: music, fashion, culinary, and wellness. The White Sage market will be open to the public daily so the entire community can support artisan vendors offering vintage fashion, crafts, and decor. Fans can enjoy an interactive farm-to-table dining experience at the High N’ Wicked Gambler’s Lounge where chefs will cook on live grills to create thoughtfully curated tapas using local ingredients. Attendees can also relax at Medicine Wheel Wellness, which will provide a spa retreat with daily yoga, sound healing, and meditation in addition to massage, acupuncture, and IV therapy offered on-site.
“Horseshoe is an idea brought to life after many years of touring and seeing what was out there in festival land,” Lisa said. “I wanted to create something unique and intimate but with the highest quality of music, food made with love, fashion and decor for our community. Duane and I believe in a life of balance, so adding the wellness aspect completed the circle of what is important to us. This boutique affair is a one-of-a-kind experience for both the artists who perform as well as the audience who attend. There was so much magic made during this beautiful weekend last year, we can’t wait to do it again.”
