Paul McCartney stopped into a small club in the Hamptons on Tuesday for a cheeky sit-in with Grammy-winning producer Andrew Watt, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, and more.
The 82-year-old Beatle has been known to hang around the Hamptons when he’s not on tour, but that doesn’t mean locals were any less thrilled to see him show up at Amagansett, NY’s Stephen Talkhouse, which holds less than 300 people. Joining Watt’s band—which featured Smith on drums as well as session guitarist and Saturday Night Live band member G.E. Smith and a full horn section—McCartney sang “I Saw Her Standing There” and a cover of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World”.
McCartney and Watt are reportedly working on a project together. They recently collaborated for the Rolling Stones‘ Hackney Diamonds album, which was produced by Watt and includes McCartney on the song “Bite My Head Off”.
