Fans who got shut out of Billy Strings‘ sold-out Renewal festival have an alternative to hopping the fence, thanks to nugs.net. The livestreaming platform will air the bluegrass guitarist’s headlining concerts on Friday, September 27th and Saturday, September 28th from The Meadows in Buena Vista, CO.
Strings’ third annual Renewal festival will once again coincide with the release of a new album, just as the inaugural edition did in 2021. Out on Friday via Reprise Records, Highway Prayers marks the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter’s fourth original studio album and his most adventurous batch of songs to date. In a break from the jam tradition, Strings has yet to perform many of the album’s 20 tracks live. Other songs like “In the Clear”, “Cabin Song”, “Be Your Man”, “My Alice”, and “Richard Petty” have already become favorites among Billy’s ravenous fans. The 31-year-old musician’s artistic explorations have extended beyond music with the release of three high-quality cinematic music videos in the lead-up to Highway Prayers‘ release.
In addition to Billy Strings, Renewal will host performances by bluegrass contemporaries Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Larry Keel Experience, and The Jerry Douglas Band along with emerging artists Mountain Grass Unit and Full Cord. The additional sets will not be broadcast on nugs. Along with Billy’s pair of two-set performances, it has also become customary for him to play a surprise daytime set. Past festivals have seen Strings and his bandmates play pop-up sets in the woods and on a pond, while in 2023 Billy invited fans to attend his soundcheck for an impromptu set.
