Tom Hamilton & Holly Bowling Guest With Greensky Bluegrass In Atlanta On This Date In 2020

123

Greensky Bluegrass brought their Winter Tour 2020 to a close two years ago today at The Tabernacle in Atlanta. The quintet ended the night with special guests Tom Hamilton on guitar and keyboardist Holly Bowling from opening act Ghost Light.

Bowling emerged towards the end of Greensky’s second set to augment the band on a cover of Bob Marley’s “Could You Be Loved” as well as GSBG originals “Past My Prime” and “Living Over.” Then, both Holly and Tom Hamilton joined Greensky Bluegrass for a two-song encore. Up first for the encore was Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs.” Greensky, Bowling and Hamilton went on to end the evening with Norton Buffalo’s “Ain’t No Bread In The Breadbox.”

Greensky kicked off the show with the familiar pairing of “Before Bring Out Your Dead” and “Bring Out Your Dead.” Oldies “Cold Feet” and “Beauty & Pain” were up next before GSBG’s “Wish I Didn’t Know” bled into a “Courage For The Road” featuring “It’s Not Mine Anymore” within. A quick romp through “Blood Sucking F(r)iends” was followed by the beloved “Demons.” Greensky finished the set by jamming dobroist Anders Beck‘s “Broke Mountain Breakdown” into what currently stands as their most recent cover of Eddie Money’s “Two Tickets To Paradise.”

The five-piece went with the Paul Hoffman-penned “Old Barns” to begin a second set that continued with “Worried About The Weather,” an original written by guitarist Dave Bruzza. A big surprise came next as Greensky Bluegrass dusted off their cover of The Louvin Brothers’ “Great Atomic Power” for the first time in over a year. A run featuring “Murder Of Crows,” “Little Maggie” and “Bottle Dry” was followed by the guest appearances.
