The Tedeschi Trucks Band had a few treats in store for their first show of 2020, which took place on Wednesday night at the Macon City Auditorium in Macon, Georgia. Led by Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, the 12-piece band finally debuted a four-year-old original, unveiled their take on a Funkadelic classic and brought out Blackberry Smoke frontman Charlie Starr for a tune.

Last night’s show started with a rare acoustic set from Starr and his BBS band mate Benji Shanks. The pair opened with “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” and included such songs as “Ain’t Got The Blues,” “One Horse Town” and “Ain’t Much Left” within their performance. Next, the TTB took the stage for a marathon set of their own.

The Tedeschi Trucks Band kicked off their set by busting out a cover of Fred Neil’s “Everybody’s Talkin’,” which as per Setlist.FM was last played way back on November 30, 2012. Originals “Do I Look Worried” and “Don’t Know What It Means” came next before Tedeschi belted out The Boxtops’ “The Letter.” Soon thereafter came another huge surprise as the 12-piece performed “Hear Me” from their 2016 studio album Let Me Get By live for the first time. Later, the one-two punch of Willie Nelson’s “Somebody Pick Up My Pieces” and Dr. John’s “I Walk On Guilded Splinters” was followed by a rendition of “Shame” featuring a jam on “Whipping Post” within.

Wednesday’s concert continued with the Derek Trucks showcase “Midnight In Harlem” and a cover of Leon Russell’s “Stranger In A Strange Land” featuring Charlie Starr. The main set concluded with blues standard “Key To The Highway” and beloved original “Made Up Mind.” For the encore, the TTB premiered a cover of Funkadelic’s Let’s Take It To The Stage banger “Good To Your Earhole” and then said farewell with “Bound For Glory.” Watch the TTB finally debut “Hear Me” below:
