Group Show at the Montague Mill

1860

Painting by Patricia Czepiel Mays

Wade in the Water

You can step into a peaceful art gallery from the streets of a bustling metropolis and still attain a bit of serenity (given a few minutes to de-stress from nearly being clipped by a speeding cab or two), but taking a deep breath and appreciating the world around you is a heckuva lot easier in a gallery that looks out onto a deep green forest canopy and the burbling Saw Mill River. This summer’s group show at Sawmill River Arts features paintings, drawings, photography, ceramic tiles, book and sculptural paper arts, hooked rugs, and felting, featuring artists Louise Minks, Roy Mansur, Christine Mero, Christine Pellerin, and Patricia Czepiel Mays (who painted the egret pictured here).

Summer Celebration at the Montague Mill: Through Aug. 29. Free. Sawmill River Arts Gallery, 440 Greenfield Road, Montague. (413) 367-2885, sawmillriverarts.com.
