Play it Again, Sheldon

John Sheldon has latched himself to so many meteoric musical acts, it’s a wonder that he hasn’t ascended beyond our earthly ears completely. Thankfully, he retains an intimate connection to the Valley, despite his years writing and playing for acts like Van Morrison and James Taylor (also, ask him about his brush with Jimi Hendrix sometime). In the staged musical retrospective The Red Guitar, Sheldon connects the dots that mark his rock and roll milestones. It’s a poignant and funny musical odyssey — one that took him and Serious Play Theatre Ensemble to Scotland this summer for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. During that run, a reviewer from the Scotland Herald called Sheldon and his red Stratocaster “so downright human, and such great company.” We’ll vouch for that.

The Red Guitar: 8 p.m. $15 at the door; cash only. The Shea Theater, 71 Avenue A, Turners Falls. sheatheater.org.
