Marley and We

Reggae legend Bob Marley’s prolific career is hard to quantify, brimming as it is with huge-hearted songs and a diaspora of music fans, inspired musicians, and lifelong revolutionaries. The Hartford-based band Ras Spectiv celebrates the music of Bob Marley and The Wailers while incorporating Studio One classics and originals, embracing vintage Jamaican music stylings from the Rock Steady era through its evolution into what we recognize as reggae today. The band, pictured here at Charlemont Reggae Fest earlier this summer, comes to Bishop’s in Northampton this week, featuring former members of notable Northeast reggae acts including The Alchemystics, Amandla Band, and I Anbassa Movement.

Ras Spectiv: Saturday, 9 p.m. $5. Bishop’s Lounge, 41 Strong Ave., Northampton. (774) 272-1411, [email protected].
