1,179,000 Meals and Counting

The annual Western Mass November tradition is back: Monte’s March to End Hunger is here again.

For the last seven years, WRSI 99.3 The River radio personality Monte Belmonte has organized the march, which raises money for the Western Mass Food Bank. Monte grabs a shopping cart and anyone else who cares to join him and hits the road for a 17-mile trek and telethon from Springfield’s Friends of the Homless to the WRSI station in Northampton — that’s day one. On day two, Monte pushes the cart 26 miles from Northampton to Greenfield’s bank row. So far, Monte’s March has raised $393,000 in donations — enough money for more than 1 million meals. Listen in on the radio and help people facing hunger this winter.

Monte’s March VII: Monday, Nov. 21, Friends of the Homeless in Springfield to WRSI in Northampton; Tuesday, Nov. 22, WRSI to bank row in Greenfield. foodbankwma.org/events/montes-march-vii.
