Antarctica: Clear Evidence of Climate Change
Antarctica’s isolation and cold have always been attractive to me. A land of rolling ice mountains, silence, and snow where Mother Nature is commander in chief. In Antarctica — Ice and Sky, Oscar-winning director Luc Jacquet creates a portrait of French glaciologist Claude Lorius — one of the first scientists to start warning people about climate change. Lorius was among a vanguard of scientists studying ice cores in Antarctica, which gave people the first clear evidence of man-made global climate change. The glaciologist’s story is told against the stunning backdrop of Antarctica’s extreme landscape.
Antarctica — Ice and Sky: Friday to Sunday, 7 p.m.; Monday, 1:30 and 7 p.m. Berkshire Museum, 39 South St., Pittsfield. Berkshiremuseum.org.
