Doom Flamingo Shares ‘F-16’ & ‘Telepathy’ Singles

231

Synthwave act Doom Flamingo featuring Umphrey’s McGee bassist Ryan Stasik made their debut earlier this year and will soon play a series of dates in October. The group’s sound can be heard on a pair of recently released singles shared by Doom Flamingo.

Stasik is joined in Doom Flamingo by vocalist Kanika Moore, saxophonist Mike Quinn, drummer Stu White, guitarist Thomas Kenney and keyboardist Ross Bogan. “Ryan wanted to put together a band with some local musicians,” Ross Bogan told the Charleston City Paper in the band’s hometown of Charleston, South Carolina. “I had been listening to a lot of synthwave at the time and proposed a live synthwave band. We’ve all been put in a lot of situations where we have to pull off some ridiculous covers that we’re not used to, so I was confident we were all going to rise to this task.”

The band released two songs set to be included on a forthcoming EP. Doom Flamingo, whose concerts feature custom graphics created by Christian Hannon with 10k digital projector 3D mapping, are also working on a graphic novel with Canadian illustrator Jordan Noir.
