Loretta Lynn Streams New Album ‘Wouldn’t It Be Great’

The long-awaited new album from country legend Loretta Lynn, Wouldn’t It Be Great is due out on Friday, September 28. The entire album can be streamed via NPR Music’s First Listen series in advance of its official release next week.

Lynn was set to issue Wouldn’t It Be Great last year but shelved the album after the 85-year-old suffered a stroke that also forced the cancelation of a tour. Lynn enlisted her daughter Patsy Lynn Russell and the son of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, John Carter Cash to co-produce the 13-track Wouldn’t It Be Great. The album was recorded on Johnny Cash’s estate at the Cash Cabin recording studio.

Along with new songs such as the title track and the Shawn Camp co-write, “I’m Dying for Someone to Live For,” the album also features reworked versions of Lynn’s classics such as “Don’t Come Home a Drinkin’” and “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” Listen to the album via the link to NPR below:
