On July 23 Paul McCartney returned to the famed Abbey Road Studios in London — the spot where The Beatles recorded many of their legendary albums and singles — for an exclusive Spotify concert. Today, Spotify unveiled Paul McCartney & Spotify Singles: Under The Staircase featuring audio and video from Macca’s Abbey Road performance.
McCartney’s set at Abbey Road’s Studio 2 came in support of his latest album Egypt Station. Paul led his band through a smattering of songs from his days in The Beatles and Wings plus solo gems including a few tracks off Egypt Station. The audio playlist, which can be streamed below, contains 17 tunes recorded as part of the session. A feature-length concert film can be viewed through the Spotify app as part of the playlist.
A number of celebrities were among the approximately 150 people who witnessed Macca’s session at Abbey Road. Kylie Minogue, Amy Schumer, Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom joined fans who won contests as well as some of Paul’s close friends and family. Producer Giles Martin, the son of “fifth Beatle” George Martin, oversaw the session.
