Last week Greenville, South Carolina-birthed rockers The Marcus King Band made their late-night television debut with a performance of “Where I’m Headed” on Conan. Today, the sextet shared the studio version of the song that led Conan O’Brien to exclaim “Good god, that was fantastic!”

“Where I’m Headed” is the latest single from the MKB’s forthcoming Carolina Confessions record. The Marcus King Band recorded the LP at Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A with producer Dave Cobb. Billboard premiered “Where I’m Headed” and spoke with King about the new single:

“I wrote that about a very special lady,” who’s still in the picture, says King, who crafted the track from a hook he’s been sitting on for awhile. “It’s just about always being on the road and not really knowing where you’re going next. A lot of times people ask where we’re going and I don’t really remember without looking at the tour book. So I’m saying to her that I don’t know where I’m headed, but I know you’ll be there.”
