The National Busts Out ‘So Far Around The Bend’ & Welcomes Phoebe Bridgers In Philly

221

The National brought their tour to The Mann Center For The Performing Arts in Philadelphia for a performance Thursday night. The band performed the rarity “So Far Around The Bend” for the first time since 2009 and welcomed Phoebe Bridgers to add vocals to a song.

The National recorded “So Far Around The Bend” for the 2009 Dark Was The Night benefit compilation produced by Aaron Dessner and Bryce Dessner for the Red Hot Organization. The rarely played song was purportedly last played in May 2009. Following the bust out, The National reprised their collaboration at Eaux Claires by bringing out Bridgers to accompany a rendition of “Sorrow” which appeared on the band’s High Violet album.
