Widespread Panic Announces 2018 New Year’s Run

165

On the heels of their successful weekend run in St. Augustine, FL, Athens rock titans Widespread Panic have announced that they will return to Atlanta, GA for a three-night New Year’s run, set to take place at The Fox Theatre on Saturday, December 29th; Sunday, December 30th; and Monday, December 31st. This will mark Widespread Panic’s second consecutive time ringing in the new year in Atlanta, following a similar New Year’s run at The Fox in 2017.

The run will also include a charitable aspect, with prime seats for the shows being sold at an additional cost to benefit Tunes For Tots. Notes the announcement, “The dollar amount over Face Value goes directly to Tunes for Tots.  Widespread Panic held their first Tunes for Tots benefit concert in 2005.  To date, the organization has raised over $1,500,000 for the purchase of musical instruments for public schools in need.  Your generous contribution goes directly to keeping music alive in public schools.”

The band also states their charitable mission statement in the Tunes For Tots fundraiser announcement:

Widespread Panic believes that art education, and in particular music education, is integral to the overall education and advancement of children.

Art allows for personal expression, appreciation of ideas, celebration of cultural awareness, sharing emotions, and gives purpose to life.

Widespread Panic agrees with research findings that art education supports more traditional academic subjects as well as being a worthy pursuit in its own right.

Tickets on sale to the public on September 28th at 10 am ET. For more information on ticket sales for Widespread Panic’s 2018 New Year’s run, or to check out a full list of the band’s upcoming tour dates, head here.
