On October 26, Blackberry Smoke will issue a six-song EP dubbed The Southern Ground Sessions as a companion to their most recent full-length LP Find A Light. The Atlanta-birthed band shared a cover of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ “You Got Lucky” featuring Amanda Shires on fiddle on vocals from the forthcoming EP.

“Not long ago, we went into Southern Ground Studios in Nashville to record some acoustic versions of songs from our album Find a Light,” Blackberry Smoke’s Charlie Starr told Rolling Stone. “We had some special guests come in — the Wood Brothers and Amanda Shires — and while Amanda was there, we decided to play a version of ‘You Got Lucky.’ [It’s] just such an incredibly written song; it’s just perfect, as are so many Tom Petty songs.” Petty & The Heartbreakers recorded “You Got Lucky” for their 1982 album Long After Dark. In addition to the Petty cover, The Southern Ground Sessions contains stripped-down renditions of five songs from Find A Light including “Mother Mountain” with Oliver Wood.
