Damon Albarn & Gorillaz Say Farewell In Mexico City

Last night, Gorillaz brought two years of heavy touring to a close with a performance at Palacio De Los Deportes in Mexico City, Mexico. The band had been on the road in support of 2017’s Humanz and returned for another round of touring to accompany the 2018 release of The Now Now. Co-creators Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett are now expected to focus on other projects “for the foreseeable future.”

Gorillaz worked through a career-spanning performance featuring 27 songs in Mexico City on Wednesday. Albarn took time during the “Demon Days” finale to introduce Jamie Hewlett, the entire band, staff and management. Watch Damon and Jamie’s embrace as the crowd cheered for Hewlett:

The band went from 2010 and 2017 between tours and Damon recently told the Toronto Sun it may be 2028 before fans see Gorillaz again. Albarn will now turn his attention to The Good, The Bad & The Queen. Check out a series of Instagram stories shared by the band from the tour finale:
