Legendary guitarist Mark Knopfler will embark on a 28-date North American tour next summer. The tour is currently set to span from August 16 – September 22 and comes in support of Down The Road Wherever, a new studio album due November 16 through British Grove Records/Blue Note.

Knopfler’s band for the tour includes longtime collaborators Guy Fletcher (keyboards), Richard Bennett (guitar), Jim Cox (piano), Mike McGoldrick (whistle and flute), John McCusker (fiddle and cittern), Glenn Worf (bass), Danny Cummings (percussion) and Ian Thomas (drums) as well as new additions Graeme Blevins (saxophone) and Tom Walsh (trumpet). “My songs are made to be performed live,” said the former Dire Straits guitarist. “I love the whole process of writing them alone and then recording them with the band, but ultimately the best part is playing them to an audience live. I enjoy the whole circus, travelling from town to town and interacting with this group of players is a total pleasure. I’m really looking forward to it.”

The tour begins at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut on August 16. From there, Knopfler brings the tour to Philadelphia, Vienna (Virginia), New York City, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Minneapolis and Milwaukee over the course of August. Then, in September, the guitarist makes stops in Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta, Sugar Land (Texas), Austin, Grand Prairie (Texas), Denver (venue to be announced), Portland (Oregon), Woodinville (Washington), Vancouver, Berkeley, Santa Barbara, Phoenix and Los Angeles. Register here for presales that start on Monday, October 29 at 10 a.m. local times. Tickets for most shows go on sale to the general public on Friday, November 2.
