Mark Knopfler Performs ‘Romeo & Juliet’ For BBC

204

Former Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler is gearing up for the upcoming release of a new album entitled Down The Road Wherever through his own British Grove Records via Blue Note on November 16. Knopfler will embark on an extensive tour in support of the album next year. Yesterday, the guitarist performed a stripped-down rendition of a Dire Straits classic for the BBC.

Mark Knopfler was accompanied by pianist Guy Fletcher, guitarist Richard Bennett and percussionist Danny Cummings for a gorgeous version of “Romeo And Juliet.” Dire Straits originally recorded the song for inclusion on the 1980 album Making Movies and released “Romeo And Juliet” as a single the next year.
