Much like a well fed Pokémon, Sydney punk stalwarts Blue Velvet have evolved on their new EP, A Lesson In Regression.
Premiering exclusively via Music Feeds below ahead of its official release on Friday, 19th October, the band’s second release sees them graduate from their sad boi roots and move forward towards brighter, sunnier horizons.
Described as a love letter to the band they once were, Blue Velvet’s fresh five-tracker is packed with good time party vibes and summery punk spirit.
“We all dared to do something different in A Lesson In Regression,” explains drummer Lewis Armstrong.
“Some of the songs were conjured up in a matter of minutes and others took months. In the end it all fused together to create something that has a foot grounded in where we began, writing sad emo songs, and another foot in the ambitious, positive music that we’re creating now.”
He adds: “It was incredibly liberating to create, it felt like we were really free to explore our musical tastes and write something we all really love, something we’re proud of.”
To celebrate the release of A Lesson In Regression, the foursome will also be hitting the road to perform a handful of live dates over the next two weeks.
