Sharon Van Etten shared the video for “Comeback Kid,” the lead single from her upcoming new album Remind Me Tomorrow. The follow-up to 2014’s Are We There is due January 18 via Jagjaguwar.
Van Etten worked with producer John Congleton on the 10-track Remind Me Tomorrow. She previously shared audio of the single, “Comeback Kid,” and tapped director Jonathan William Turner to direct its official video.
“As the lyrics for ‘Comeback Kid’ unfolded, I realized I was talking about many selves: the kid, the adult, the sibling, the friend, the neighbor,” Van Etten said. “I imagined a projector streaming over me of memories, unclear if they are mine or someone else’s, confronted by the disorientation of time and perspective. Jonathan William Turner helped me to convey these struggles of self, forgiveness, and living in the now.”
Van Etten will support Remind Me Tomorrow next year with tour dates scheduled around the globe. Watch the “Comeback Kid” video here:
