Last month, Brooklyn-based nine-piece Turkuaz released their new album, Life In The City. Following-up 2015’s Digitonium, the nine-track collection marks Turkuaz’s fifth studio album to date. Merging together the worlds of funk, alternative, rock, R&B, and psychedelia and punctuated by deft musicality and show-stopping singalongs, Turkuaz’s latest studio effort is a funkified adventure. The rainbow clad funk-outfit had the fortune of working with the Talking Heads’ Jerry Harrison, who produced the track “If I Ever Fall Asleep.”
Turkuaz has unveiled a video of a live in-studio performance of Life In The City’s “Make You Famous”, the album’s third track. The new video was filmed at Turkuaz’s own, Dave Brandwein’s Galaxy Smith Studios in Brooklyn, NY.
Earmilk premiered the new in-studio footage. As the band shared with them,
It plays on the topsy-turvy world of touring and making music for a living. There are some references to the ups and downs of the road, the “hurry up and wait” lifestyle, and some of the well-known pitfalls of the industry. It’s meant to display a lot of the chaos we can feel day to day, and I think the music does a good job of simulating that feeling for the listener. The lyrics remain playful but like with a lot of the record, they explore the negative as well as the positive. Overall though, it’s a fun track, both on the record and the in-studio live version we did.
