U2 Offers Tour Debuts In Copenhagen

168

U2‘s lengthy eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour is currently in its final leg as the Irish rockers are in the midst of a swing through Europe that wraps up with a string of hometown shows in early November. This past weekend the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame act was in Denmark for a pair of gigs at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen. Bono & Co. have stuck to a similar setlist for the majority of the run, but on Sunday night the band switched things up by delivering a number of tour debuts and bust outs.

The surprises started early in the night with the European tour debut of “Gloria” from the band’s 1982 release October. Two songs later U2 offered up “The Unforgettable Fire,” playing the title track from their fourth studio album for the first time since August 2010. The quartet continued to dig in on their catalog by unearthing “Stay (Faraway, So Close!).” The Zooropa tune last made an appearance back in 2011 but hadn’t been given the full-band treatment since December 10, 1993. The final setlist change followed as “Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses” was played for the first time on this leg of the tour.
