Devon Allman and Duane Betts focused on collaboration-heavy concerts featuring both of their bands in 2018. Next year, the pair will join forces to form The Allman Betts Band. The sons of Allman Brothers Band co-founders Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts recorded an album and will hit the road with the new outfit beginning in March.
The Allman Betts Band features Devon, Duane, bassist Berry Oakley Jr., slide guitarist Johnny Stachela and percussionists R. Scott Bryan and John Lum. Berry Oakley Jr. is the son of Allman Brothers Band co-founding bassist Berry Oakley. The new band’s debut album, which is currently untitled, is due in the Spring of 2019. Matt Ross-Spang produced the LP. Keyboardists Peter Levin and Chuck Leavell each appear on the record.
Devon and Duane will focus on The Devon Allman Project with special guest Duane Betts concerts through late February 2019. The Allman Betts Band are currently slated to make their debut at the Warner Theatre in Torrington, Connecticut on March 28. From there, the new outfit makes stops in Plymouth, New Hampshire; Plattsburgh, New York; Huntington, New York; Stowe, Vermont; New York City; Homer, New York; Newton, New Jersey and Beverly, Massachusetts.
