Erik Deutsch & Friends Perform ‘Falling Flowers’: Exclusive Video Premiere

151

Leftover Salmon keyboardist Erik Deutsch released his latest solo album Falling Flowers earlier this fall on LoHi Records. JamBase is pleased to premiere professionally-shot video of the title track from the studio where he recorded the album.

Deutsch is joined in the “Falling Flowers” video by Victoria Reed, Scott Metzger, Andy Thorn, Brian Dyre, Mike McGinnis, Avi Bortnick, Jesse Murphy and Tony Mason. The keyboardist worked with engineers Bryce Goggin and Adam Sachs on the nine-track LP at Trout Recording in Brooklyn. Here’s what Erik Deutsch told JamBase about the track “Falling Flowers”:

“Like many of my compositions these days, ‘Falling Flowers’ began as a riff during a Leftover Salmon soundcheck. I was messing around with it a little later on at home in Brooklyn and Victoria overheard it; she said she had lyrics that could work. So our collaboration was born, and from the beginning it felt like it might be a special song. Fast forward to the session at Trout: the band and the engineers nailed it, and I’m psyched that Ehud Lazin was in the house to capture the magic on film (shout out to Jeff Hill for the killer mix). Being the ‘pop’ song on the album, “FF” features the most overdubs and special guests: there’s a good amount of B3, extra vocals (by Victoria), and of course Scott Metzger (on slide guitar) and Andy Thorn (on banjo). Without these two maestros the track wouldn’t have made where it did… So enjoy the ride and thanks for supporting the music! – Erik Deutsch
