George Porter Jr. & Eddie Roberts Lead All-Star Lineup For Send It Foundation Benefit Concert

153

The Send It Foundation’s second annual SuperJelly superjam will take place on Tuesday, November 20 at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, California. Guitarist Eddie Roberts of The New Mastersounds will serve as musical director. The lineup also includes bassist George Porter Jr. of The Meters, Lettuce drummer Adam Deitch, trumpeter/vocalist Jennifer Hartswick, keyboardist Joe Tatton, trumpeter Mike Olmos and Con Brio guitarist Benjamin Andrews.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Send It Foundation. “The mission of the Send It Foundation is to inspire positivity, courage and gratitude in young adult cancer fighters and survivors through the gift of outdoor adventure and community,” reads a note from the organization. Send It develops multi-day adventures designed around activities like skiing, surfing, climbing and biking in an aim to bring strength and courage to the cancer fight. The organization’s programs are free for participants, and fully funded by events such as the superjam and its community of donors, partners and volunteers.

“I’m very honored to be the musical director for the second annual Send It fundraiser. Having had so much fun and inspiration last year, the seed was planted for a lineup that just grew and grew to something very special,” Eddie Roberts tells JamBase. “I’ve played many times with George and Adam independently, but never together … it is gonna be SO funky! Add in the skills of Joe Tatton on B3 and the soulful Jennifer Hartwick (who never fails to make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck!) and you’ve got yourself a dream team. Also joining us, my old San Francisco pal of all things jazzy, Mike Olmos on trumpet; and Benjamin Andrews, guitarist of the bay’s new rock stars, Con Brio. This promises to be an altogether incredible night for a very righteous cause.”

Tickets for the benefit are available via Ticketfly. Head here to donate directly to the Send It Foundation. Watch a video about the organization:
