Gov’t Mule Tips Hat To Past Mule-O-Ween Shows On Halloween In Fort Wayne

175

While Gov’t Mule presented their annual Mule-O-Ween concert this past Saturday in Atlanta, the band still had plenty of tributes in store for Halloween night at the Clyde Theatre in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The band focused on originals in the first set and then loaded the second set and encore with covers played at past Mule-O-Ween shows.

Last night’s first set featured a career-spanning mix of material that included such classics as “Blind Man In The Dark,” “Fool’s Moon” and “Mule” along with more recent tracks like “Drawn That Way,” “Dreams & Songs” and “Pressure Under Fire.” The second set consisted of one cover after another. Gov’t Mule led off the frame with Led Zeppelin’s “D’yer Mak’er,” which was first played as part of a Led Zeppelin Mule-O-Ween tribute in 2007. The band then plucked Pink Floyd’s “One Of These Days” from a Pink Floyd Mule-O-Ween tribute in 2008. A run through past Mule-O-Ween performances continued with “Shattered” representing 2009’s Rolling Stones tribute, “Behind Blue Eyes” representing 2010’s The Who tribute, “1983… (A Merman I Should Turn To Be)” representing 2012’s Jimi Hendrix tribute, “Break On Through (To The Other Side)” representing 2013’s The Doors tribute, “Rocking In The Free World” representing 2014’s Neil Young tribute, “Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys” representing 2016’s Traffic tribute and “Fire & Water” representing 2017’s Free tribute.

Gov’t Mule wasn’t done yet as the encore featured Black Sabbath covers from Saturday’s Mule-O-Ween tribute to the pioneering metal band. First up was “Paranoid,” the title track from the Black Sabbath album Gov’t Mule covered as their second set in Atlanta. Then came Paranoid tracks “Electric Funeral,” “Hand Of Doom” and “Fairies Wear Boots” to end the evening.
