Phil Lesh Teams With Twiddle & Terrapin Family Band For Phil-O-Ween 2018 At Capitol Theatre – Photos & Audio

Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh teamed with Twiddle and The Terrapin Family Band to present a three-set Phil-O-Ween concert at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on Halloween. The evening started with a performance from GEM featuring Grahame Lesh, Mihali Savoulidis and Elliott Peck, continued with a set from Phil and The Terrapin Family Band and concluded with the debut of Phiddle.

GEM opened their set with Midnight North’s “Under The Lights” and then welcomed Jason Crosby of The Terrapin Family Band to add to “Greene Country,” another Midnight North original. The band was rounded out by Terrapin Family Band drummer Nathan Graham and Twiddle bassist Zdenek Gubb for covers of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” and Jimmy Cliff’s “The Harder They Come.” Next, Mihali led Grahame, Elliott, Nathan and Phil Lesh on his own “Over Land & Sea” before a cover of John Prine’s “Angel From Montgomery” brought the set to a close.

The Phil Lesh And The Terrapin Family Band set on Thursday found Phil backed by Grahame Lesh, Nathan Graham, Elliott Peck, Jason Crosby and guitarists Alex Koford and Ross James. James sang “New Minglewood Blues” to get things underway. Then, Phil led the group through Robbie Robertson’s “Broken Arrow” before Grahame stepped into the spotlight for “Sugar Magnolia” and Elliott handled lead vocals on The Band’s “It Makes No Difference.” Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band strung together “Tennesse Jed,” “Tangled Up In Blue” and “He’s Gone” ahead of a wild version of “The Other One” featuring AC/DC’s “Highway To Hell” within. Grahame fronted the group on The Rolling Stones’ “Sympathy For The Devil” to end the set.

Phiddle treated fans to a mix of Grateful Dead and Twiddle originals. First up was a pairing of “Althea” and “Truckin’” before the ensemble featuring Phil and the members of Twiddle embarked on a lengthy “Eyes Of The World.” Twiddle’s “Syncopated Healing” came next and then the quintet put an exclamation mark on the set with a run of “Shakedown Street” > “White Light” > “Bertha.” The evening’s performers went on to fill the stage for a “The Weight” encore. Phil returns to The Capitol Theatre tonight with The Terrapin Family Band, Jimmy Herring and Karl Denson.
