The National Shares Collaborative Bob’s Burgers Animated Single, “Save The Bird”

129

Five-piece indie rock outfit The National have shared a new single, “Save The Bird”, in collaboration with Loren Bouchard’s hit animated comedy Bob’s Burgers. The Bob’s Burgers crew sent the “Save The Bird” lyrics to The National— inspired by the series’ recent Thanksgiving episode—and The National then went on to supply the accompanying music.

Lead singer Matt Berninger shared in a statement,

We’re honored to continue our Thanksgiving tradition with Bob’s Burgers with “Save The Bird,” which was recorded at Public Hi-Fi in Austin and in my secluded dojo in Los Angeles. It’s especially thrilling to have our brass section finally get credit for something. Also, I’d like to thank Tom for doing the dishes.

Last year, the folks over at Bob’s Burgers unveiled a new project, The Bob’s Burgers Music Album, an album featuring 112 songs from the first six seasons of the show. The album’s expansive track list features a diverse line-up of appearances including tracks by comedians Aziz Ansari, Bill Hader, Sarah Silverman, and Fred Armisen, in addition to the regular voice-acting cast responsible for bringing life to the Belchers. Former musical guests who made the cut include Cyndi Lauper and Carly Simon in addition to the five full-length Bob’s Buskers tracks, which are covers of songs from the show by musical acts such as St. Vincent, The National, Lapsley, and Stephin Merritt of Magnetic Fields.
