On September 21 and 22, 1979, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band took part in the No Nukes: The Muse Concerts For A Non-Nuclear Future At Madison Square Garden in New York City. Both nights featured an all-star lineup of musicians including Crosby Stills & Nash, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, The Doobie Brothers and more. Springsteen made the official recordings of the complete sets from the benefit concerts available for purchase.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame act originally appeared in the 1980 concert film and soundtrack performing their “Detroit Medley” of “Devil With The Blue Dress,” “Good Golly, Miss Molly” and “Jenny Take A Ride.” At the time of its release, it marked the first officially issued live footage of the band. Springsteen & The E Street Band’s sets were highlighted by their debut of “The River” along with extended takes on “Jungleland” and “Rosalita (Come Out Tonight).” Springsteen & Co. also offered up cover the Zodiac’s “Stay” on both evenings with Browne and Rosemary Butler joining them for both takes, while Petty appeared with them on the second night.
