Happy 30th Anniversary God Street Wine: Live In 1993

192

Seminal jam band God Street Wine played their first paying gig on this date in 1988 at the long-since-shuttered Nightingale Bar in New York City. The band went on to tour hard for 11 years and put out seven studios before breaking up in 1999. God Street Wine reunited to help close out Wetlands Preserve in 2001 and then regrouped in 2009 for a private show in honor of longtime fan Paul Ducharme. In 2010, GSW played a series of sold-out shows in New York City and have performed sporadically ever since.

The return of God Street Wine also came with the launch of an official YouTube channel. GSW has shared videos from throughout their career on YouTube, including a pair of clips recorded at a crowded, hot and sweaty Rhinecliff Hotel on July 6, 1993. In the first video, guitarists Lo Faber and Aaron Maxwell, keyboardist Jon Bevo, drummer Tom “Tomo” Osander and bassist Dan Pifer perform the pairing of beloved classics “Goodnight Gretchen” and “Driving West.” There’s also footage of “Big Papa” and “Epiphany” from the show. God Street Wine concludes the celebration of their 30th anniversary on December 22 at The Gramercy Theater in New York City. Tickets are on sale now via LiveNation.com.
