Members of The Disco Biscuits, NERVE, Antibalas, & More Prepare For New York City Debut As The DAB Sessions

167

The jam scene has a relatively new supergroup and they’re ready to take the New York City music scene by storm. The DAB Sessions is a collaborative outfit which formed earlier this year and comprised of keyboardists Aron Magner of The Disco Biscuits and Jacob Bergson of JoJo Mayer’s NERVE, bassist Felix Pastorius, drummer Adam Chase from Chase Brothers, and versatile saxophonist Morgan Price of Antibalas. The band, which mixes funk and jazz with some added electronic elements, is preparing to make their Big Apple debut shortly after the start of the new year with a headlining gig at Brooklyn Bowl on January 10th.

The DAB Sessions made their live debut earlier this year alongside members of Snarky Puppy with a performance at The Mint in Los Angeles in January, followed by an appearance at The Kind Mind Campout Music Festival in Minot, Maine back in late August. Their upcoming debut at Brooklyn Bowl will give New York-based jam fans another fantastic collaborative project to enjoy get familiar with. The DAB Sessions was initially conceived by Chase, whose fans will recognize from his work in unique tribute acts like Jazz Is Phsh and James Brown Dance Party.

Another recognizable name in the band that immediately sticks out, especially in the jazz realm, is Felix Pastorius. Felix’s late father, Jaco Pastorius, is widely considered to be one of the most influential jass fusion bassists ever, and Felix has made waves of his own following in Jaco’s low-end footsteps. Don’t overlook Morgan Price’s contributions to the group either, as the tenor and baritone sax player has played and recorded with artists ranging from The Duke Ellington Orchestra to Pimps of Joytime to Beyoncé.

Other artists who have joined The DAB Sessions in their prior two performances include Snarky Puppy’s Jay Jennings and Justin Stanton, Ghost Note‘s Sly5thAve, and the Eric Gales Band‘s Cody Wright, just to name a few, so fans who plan on attending their January 10th concert at Brooklyn Bowl could be set to see and hear a few special guests throughout the evening.

Tickets to The DAB Sessions’ Brooklyn Bowl performance, presented by Instrument Find, are on sale now, and can be purchased here.
