Oteil & Friends Perform At The Capitol Theatre: Pro-Shot Full Show Video

216

Bassist Oteil Burbridge kicked off his Oteil & Friends New Year’s Run Thursday night with a show at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York. The performance featured Oteil supported by keyboardist Melvin Seals, guitarists Eric Krasno and John Kadlecik, drummer Jay Lane, percussionist Weedie Braimah and trumpeter/vocalist Jennifer Hartswick.

Jerry Garcia Band’s “Cats Down Under The Stars” opened last night’s first set, which was followed by the Grateful Dead’s “Bertha.” Hartswick then led a take on the title track to Burbridge’s 2017 solo album Water In The Desert. Next came Marvin Gaye’s “How Sweet It Is,” which was a staple of JGB setlists for many years. The ensemble was then led by Oteil on the Dead’s “Althea” which segued into “Fire On The Mountain” ahead of JHa leading a set-closing performance of Janis Joplin’s “Piece Of My Heart.”

The second set began with The Band’s “The Weight.” The collective then worked up JGB’s “Run For The Roses,” which was followed by a funky “Shakedown Street.” Kadlecik was then tasked with leading his “What’s Become Of Mary.” The set continued with Oteil fronting a somber “High Time” that came before a drums breakdown that ushered in “Franklin’s Tower.” The show drew to an end with Bob Dylan’s “Tangled Up In Blue” and Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary.”

The Relix Channel provided a free webcast of Thursday night’s show. Pay-Per-View webcasts of Saturday’s Oteil & Friends concert at The Cap as well as the band’s shows on December 30 and 31 at Brooklyn Bowl can be purchased via this link. Watch Thursday’s concert below:
